I imported Bo from Europe
in 2001 when she was 4 years old. She was the
foundation bitch for my working bloodline breeding
program and in her day brought to Australia an invaluable working pedigree
of new bloodlines.
Dogs that I previously thought
were energetic and high in prey drive paled in comparison.
Bo spent her life looking for any opportunity to go
into intense drive and stayed in drive for as long as
possible. Enormous retrieve drive would never give
up if looking for a ball. She had a good nerve,
medium hardness, good
grip, fiery and aggressive on the field, social off.
Very fast and spectacular crashing bites in the
protection phase. She came in so fast on the
courage test it was very hard for some helpers back in
the day to catch her....
These days the helpers are used to the speed, drive and
size of the Malinois but in 2001 it was a new experience
for most!
Trained and handled by myself in 2002 Bo made her debut
into the world of ANKC competitive obedience.
Bo was an extremely talented girl when it came to obedience but
possessed a bit of a stubborn streak making her challenging to
train at times. Bo gained her CD (Companion Dog
Obedience) title with 3 first places and her CDX (Companion Dog Excellent) title
shortly afterwards. This was the first time Queensland
ANKC obedience fraternity had seen the speed, drive and
intensity of a working Malinois and Bo turned a quite a
few heads along the way.
Bo also dabbled in some herding where she showed
excellent herding instinct and gained her HT (Herding
Title). Bo
was the first Malinois in Australia to be awarded any
Herding Title by the ANKC. In June 2003 at the age of 5½
Bo literally towed me around the 20 kilometres required
and gained her Endurance (ET) title.
Late 2003, at nearly 6 years of age, Bo had a career
change and went to live with Tracey Jackson of the
Brisbane Sporting Dog Club where she commenced
Schutzhund training. Bo took to Schutzhund like a duck
to water and very quickly gained her SchHA title and
shortly after her SchH1 title with a
pronounced courage rating and fighting drive under International judge
Lance Collins. I would have liked to have seen Bo
achieve her Schutzhund 3 title, and she was more than
capable, but sadly due to her late start and breaks due to
motherhood duties her age caught up with her before this
was possible.
Bo had her first litter in 2002 an AI litter with
Utamaoru des deux Pottios but unfortunately bad luck struck and 5 of the 7
puppies died from a virus. We were not able to get
Bo in whelp again until 2004/2005 when we were blessed
with 2 litters of puppies to our import
Bryan vom Haus Mecki resulting in some very nice progeny.
Bo passed away
peacefully surrounded by family one day short of her
12th Birthday. Rest in peace dear Bo
we will miss you and most certainly never forget
you.
